Hope Week!

Mayo HS HOPE Club Presents
HOPE WEEK Monday, February 10th – Friday, February 14th

Monday: HOPE Day (Wear Blue)

Tuesday: Substance Abuse (Wear Red)

Wednesday: Abuse (Wear White)

Thursday: Mental Health Awareness (Wear Green)

Friday: Cancer Awareness (Wear Purple/Pink)

  • All proceeds will be donated to the HOPE Lodge of Rochester through Relay for Life

  • Please look for HOPE club, Student Government, Key Club, and Mayo Honor Society Members carrying the tins around.  You can give them HOPE week donations, or purchase stickers/bracelets for $1 each as a way to contribute to the Hope Lodge donation.

  • We accept donations, or we will be fundraising with sales of stickers, HOPE bracelets, or leaves!  We will also sell heart-shaped, bakery-fresh cookies on Wednesday and Thursday!

  • Leaves are in honor of loved ones. We will have HOPE Club/Student Government/Key Club/Mayo Honor Society members carrying around leaves with them.  (We have green, yellow, red, black (with white writing)), or blue leaves that you buy from a HOPE club/Student Government member, write a personalized message on it or simply put the person’s name on the leaf that it is in honor of, then give it back to the student member and HOPE club will pin it up on the canvas tree at Door 6)

  • There will be grade-level abuse presentations in the auditorium for our Mental Health Awareness Day on Thursday, Feb. 13.  The grades/periods are below:

    • 1st period:  Freshmen

    • 2nd period:  Sophomores

    • 3rd period:  Juniors

    • 7th period:  Seniors

Joycelyn Elders, the first person in the state of Arkansas to become board certified in pediatric endocrinology, was the fifteenth Surgeon General of the United States, the first African American and only the second woman to head the U.S. Public Health Service. Long an outspoken advocate of public health, Elders was appointed Surgeon General by President Clinton in 1993.
