English 9 SWS– A bit more of Supersize. Time to talk to your groups about the reading.
AP Lang– Looks like lots of absences today. Take a reading day and get the following texts read/annotated. “How to Mark a Book“. This is really useful information.
“On Dumpster Diving“. We will do a major paper on this one analyzing diction and syntax.
Wednesday 30 October
English 9H– Tone activity. Go over FW#8. You will choose your own article for this assignment!
English 9 SWS– Groups to work on the assigned chapters. Let’s sit in those groups and make sure that they are balanced and everyone is getting the same information.
AP Lang– Tone in “500 Words”. And a look at the content.
Tuesday 29 October
English 9H– Writing a summary of a nonfiction piece. You need to be able to identify the main ideas and supporting details of a text. Go to CommonLit and search for “Self Care”. We will read this article, find main ideas and details, and then write a summary.
English 9 SWS– Dialogue activity. You may do this in pairs if you want. Work on group chapters in Chew on This.
AP Lang– “How to Say Nothing in 500 Words”
Monday 28 October
English 9H- Nonfiction skills. Terms and definitions. I will post FW#8 tomorrow.
English 9 SWS- Dialogue formatting. Add some dialogue to your story.
AP Lang- Zeitoun rest of part 1.
Friday 25 October
English 9H– FW#7 due (writing process reflection). Please don’t spend more than 30 minutes on this!
Revisions, part 2. What do you already know and can add? Look back at FW 3,4,&5 for stuff you’ve already written. Can you add any of that to the topic you are writing?
English 9 SWS– Start with this question from yesterday’s work.
