English 9H– Finish up Friday!

English 9 SWS– Finish and turn in FW#4. I left feedback for you in the private comments.

AP Lang– “How to Mark a Book”. And syntax.

English 9H

• Finish CommonLit assignments (Carrots and Scared)

• Turn in GE essay?

• Get article for Thursday’s class- Any topic. Mostly informational or persuasive. 

• Missing Friday writings? 

• Read nonfiction book. Pay attention to tone as you read. 

• Work on FW#8. You will probably need to refer to your nonfiction definitions.

English 9 SWS– A bit more of Supersize. Time to talk to your groups about the reading.

AP Lang– Looks like lots of absences today. Take a reading day and get the following texts read/annotated. “How to Mark a Book“. This is really useful information.
“On Dumpster Diving“. We will do a major paper on this one analyzing diction and syntax.

English 9H– Tone activity. Go over FW#8. You will choose your own article for this assignment!

English 9 SWS– Groups to work on the assigned chapters. Let’s sit in those groups and make sure that they are balanced and everyone is getting the same information.

AP Lang– Tone in “500 Words”. And a look at the content.

English 9H– Writing a summary of a nonfiction piece. You need to be able to identify the main ideas and supporting details of a text. Go to CommonLit and search for “Self Care”. We will read this article, find main ideas and details, and then write a summary.

English 9 SWS– Dialogue activity. You may do this in pairs if you want. Work on group chapters in Chew on This.

AP Lang– “How to Say Nothing in 500 Words”

English 9H- Nonfiction skills. Terms and definitions. I will post FW#8 tomorrow.

English 9 SWS- Dialogue formatting. Add some dialogue to your story.

AP Lang- Zeitoun rest of part 1.

English 9H–  FW#7 due (writing process reflection). Please don’t spend more than 30 minutes on this!
Revisions, part 2. What do you already know and can add? Look back at FW 3,4,&5 for stuff you’ve already written. Can you add any of that to the topic you are writing?

English 9 SWS– Start with this question from yesterday’s work.

AP Lang– Malcolm X again. Diction focus with a MC set.

English 9H– “How to Mark a Book”. Use these ideas for today’s reading day.

English 9 SWS- Spooky texts. Read and share out.

AP Lang- Diction focus on the Malcolm X piece.

English 9H– Peer revisions. Materials in Classroom. After you have worked with your partner, make revisions on your paper. Then, read your choice memoir.

English 9 SWS– Type your story onto the doc in Classroom.

AP Lang– Read/discuss Malcolm X piece.

English 9H– Continue working on GE rough draft. When you are finished, I would like to check it.

Advisory– Panorama survey.

English 9 SWS– Spooky stories and candy.

AP Lang– Skip around in chapter 2 of the textbook.

English 9H- Write rough draft of GE paper. Try to get at least TWO paragraphs written today. I will post FW#7 tomorrow afternoon since it’s a reflection of this writing.

English 9 SWS– Creative writing this time. Brainstorming for this topic. Have some fun with it! This week we will be reading about French fries.

AP Lang– Zeitoun p. 3-26. What can you say about the author’s style so far? What questions do you have?
