Characterization Carousel

In this next section, Pip meets a lot of new people. For each of these characters, use the page numbers provided (and others of your own choosing) to analyze how and why they are characterized the way they are.

First, how is each character characterized? Use evidence and explanation on the sheet.

Second, why did Dickens’ choose to characterize them in that way? Again, evidence and explanation.

Record your group’s ideas on the big paper with your assigned color.

On Pages 80-81, you will find some comprehension questions. Please complete #’s 3,5,13, and 15. In addition, choose ONE more to complete.

It goes without saying that you should provide plenty of text evidence and fully explain all points.

Today we will continue working through The Tao of Pooh.  Friday #4 is posted, but please don’t start work on it until Wednesday. You will need to have read the next section in the book.

For tomorrow, please read the Identity Essay assignment posted in Classroom. We will begin writing this tomorrow, so come with questions.

Also, don’t forget to bring a paper draft for our college essay extravaganza during Academic Seminar.

Today we will take a long look into the mysteries of Chapter 12. At your table, you will be creating a visual showing what happened, who was involved, your hypothesis for what happened, and a prediction for the future. When you are done, add some color to it. Art supplies are in left windowsill.

For Academic Seminar next week, you have all been selected for a peer-review session of your college essays. We will be combining with the other class in the upstairs conference room (2-257).  Bring a paper copy of the essay you would like to work with. Feel free to invite anyone along who you think could benefit from this.
