There was a really interesting sentence in the section we read yesterday. Please copy the second sentence down in your Author Craft section of your composition book.

We entered into a melancholy little square that looked to me like a flat burying ground. I thought it had the most dismal trees in it, and the most dismal sparrows, and the most dismal cats, and the most dismal houses that I had ever seen.
Now, try it! Create a sentence with a similar structure. Topic is up to you.
You may use the rest of the hour to work on reading the text and Friday #4.

Today we will first take a look at some sentence level analysis. Consider the sentence below.
He was walking, running, and jumping for joy.
Parallel structure (parallelism) |
refers to a grammatical or structural similarity between sentences or parts of a sentence; it involves an arrangement of words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs so that elements of equal importance are equally developed and similarly phrased |
Now, try it. Create a sentence using this parallel structure. Is there a place in your Identity Essay that could use such a construction?
