Pds 1&4–> Book Club! Sit in teams of 3.

In your group, open the document in Classroom. Talk about your books and fill in the answers to the questions. When your group is finished, turn it in.

Make sure Friday #13 is turned in.

Pds 2&5–> Character Maps! You will need your choice book.

Open the document in Classroom. You may do this on paper or digitally. If you choose the digital option, I suggest ThingLink or PicCollage. Both are available for download in Self Service.

Today we are testing your skills of main idea/supporting detail, summarization, and author’s purpose. The documents are in Classroom. When you finish, read your book and/or work on Friday #13. We will have book discussions tomorrow.

Today we examine author’s purpose in nonfiction.

First, let’s brainstorm the various reasons an author would write.

Next, in pairs, walk around and read the numbered passages. For each, determine the author’s purpose and explain how you knew that.

When you complete that, post on the weekly list. Then begin Friday #13.
