Today you will be finishing up any last minute notes and outlining your topics before beginning to write your essay. This outline does not have to be a detailed thing; just bullet points so you know where you’re going. Make a goal to complete at least one body paragraph. Here is an example of a body paragraph with internal citations.

Continuing our study of “My Satirical Self.” Today we will focus on structure of the argument. It’s a long text, so here’s the plan.
First, number the paragraphs or chunks. Then outline the text using bullet points. Explain the purpose of each paragraph. In other words, why does the author include that in his argument?
Write. Is this a well-crafted argument? Why or why not?
Turning in late work? Turning in revisions?
Either way, fill out this form. It will alert me that new work has been submitted. Thanks!

Today we will dissect the article “My Satirical Self” by Wyatt Mason. We will start with a few key passages, then move to look at the piece as a whole. Finally, you will write a short essay based on this piece. Directions are in Classroom.

Today we will learn how to properly document and cite sources in a research paper. This is a critical part of the project and must be done correctly.
The very best resource for MLA documentation is Purdue OWL. We will start by writing a citation for a book. That is the easiest one, but most will follow this basic format. We will also practice a couple other formats.
By the end of class, you should have your sources put into proper MLA format.
