College essay time! We will workshop these essays TOMORROW! Please bring a hard copy for editing to class.

Review the readings for this class so far:

Philip Lopate- “On the Necessity of Turning Oneself into a Character”
Reid Hoffman- “Shape Your Identity or it Will Shape You”
Michael Perry-“Bumper Sticker Bravado”

And the memoir from the summer assignment (due Monday 19 Sept).

All of this will be coming together in a larger paper about identity. Find some commonality among these pieces and begin to shape some ideas. And, I’m keeping it kind of purposefully vague at this point.
