Finish with the 2014 question #3 student samples. In the comments below, tell which paper is the highest scoring and WHY. Be specific and include text evidence.
Spend the rest of the hour working on your topic and thesis and reading excerpts.
Essay Q is probably the best essay because it is thorough and effective. I’d give it an 8 because it is effective, but it doesn’t really define what creativity is, which is part of the prompt and should’ve been met.
-Gabe, Robbie, Michael, Cara
Q:8 Q is easily the best because not only does it explain what creativity is and why there should be a class, but it also gives details on why. They stay with the prompt throughout the paper and really make their point clear. They use good grammar as well, adding to the already structurally sound paper. All in all it was some fire. A and J were much worse in every way.
Q- All of us here at table nine strongly agree that Q is the best of the three essays. We would give it an 8 on the nine point scale. She (or he) uses a strong use of language that answers both the what and why. The author has strong organizational skills and effectively develops the argument through rhetoric and refutes opposing arguments.
Q, because it answers the prompt completely by describing how all classes should teach creativity, and by explaining how a separate class in creativity could inadvertently teach students that creative thinking is a separate skill.
Q is the best essay. I would give it an 8 because the prompt was answered throughly, counter arguments were addressed, and the sentences were crafted very well. There was also a very coherent flow to the essay. Alex

Q was the highest scoring as the author remained relatively focused on answering the prompt and had adequate support for the argument presented.

The first student sample is by far the best since it answers both parts of the prompt in an organized and eloquent manner.
